A mortice (or mortise) lock is a high-security locking mechanism that is installed into a "pocket" or cavity cut directly into the edge of a timber door.
Unlike surface-mounted rim locks, mortice locks are embedded within the door's structure, making them exceptionally resistant to forced entry, kicking, and tampering.
