A door coordinator (or selector) is a specialized hardware device used on double doors (pairs) that have an overlapping "astragal" or "rebate." Its sole purpose is to ensure the doors close in the correct sequence so they seal properly.
If the "active" door closes before the "inactive" door, the doors will jam or fail to latch. The coordinator holds the active door open until the inactive door has closed first.
